Houses of The National Trust
London-Cabbie is pleased to offer special tours to National Trust properties in and
around London. This is a particularly good way of maximizing your time by visiting by
taxi, instead of having to make cumbersome arrangements by other public transport. Our
guides will take you right to the door in comfort and be there when you are ready to
depart for your next destination. Often in larger tour groups you are left waiting for
those who are inconsiderate and are not time conscious. With London-Cabbie you are in
control and can stay as long as you like or as short. (Obviously there are certain time
parameters which will govern entry and closing times to attractions).
The National Trust is an independant registered charity in the United Kingdom founded in
1895 to preserve places of historic interest or natural beauty permanently for the nation
to enjoy.
It protects and opens to the public over 200 historic houses in England, Wales and Northern
Ireland. LONDON-CABBIE offers the following visits during summer 2006 - Carlyle's House,
Chelsea and Osterly Park. Visits can be arranged on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday
each week.
Carlyle's House is a Queen Anne House, home of the writer and historian Thomas Carlyle
from 1834 until his death. The house contains original furniture and many books, portraits
and relics of his day.
Osterly Park - Robert Adams was commissioned to transform a crumbling Tudor Mansion into
an elegant neo-classical villa. The spectacular interiors contain complete examples of
Adam's work and include plaster work, carpets and furniture. There is also a 16th century
stables still in use today.
From your Central London Hotel, (or other address by arrangement), we leave at 10.30am and
arrive back at approximately 3.30pm. The cost for this trip, which includes your
personalised transportation to and from each location is £35 per person( minimum of
four passengers), or a total of £140. Admission costs are not included.
